Summary

[On verso] 'Photo between 1878 & 1879 (when occupied by R. Hickson). Site: Victoria Terrace, east side (continuation south of Unley Road), Lower Mitcham between Tutt Avenue & Eynesbury Avenue. The house was built in or about 1856 for W.M. Letchford, who occupied it until 1878, when R. Hickson became the tenant. In 1880 Geo. Wilcox bought it and occupied it until his death. The property was subdivided by Wilcox's executors in 1918 and in 1920 the house was converted into flats ("Eynesbury Flats"). Wilcox made many alterations, including a tower, a conservatory, a ballroom and a partial second storey. Today (1942) the building is unrecognisable from the photo of 1878/79.
