Summary

Stone cottage with corrugated iron roof, and verandah painted in stripes. Iron lace is seen at the verandah posts and the property has a plain, painted picket fence.This may be the home of the Howard or Barr family on Kangaroo Island.

General notes

One image in a collection of photographs taken by or collected by the Barr family. The Howard family (William Howard and Janet Barr) is known to have taken up land outside Penneshaw (formerly Hog Bay) on Kangaroo Island about 1883. Janet's father Robert Barr joined them there. The Sands & McDougall South Australian Directory lists G.,J., Robert and William Barr at Salt Lagoon, which is near Penneshaw, in 1903. Individual images may be viewed by doing a number search on B 70882.
