In 1941 it was reported that as part of the Red Cross 30,000 pound drive an excercise was held on the Stirling oval with public observing. Source Mount Barker Courier'.

Groups of Red Cross women in uniform at a Hills garden at Stirling. Information from a researcher: 'I believe that this photo was taken at "Pine Hill" the home of Mrs Guy Fisher comandant of the Stirling/Aldgate Red Cross - source Mt Barker Courier article 1/10/1942. If it follows Red Cross exercises on Stirling oval in Jan 1941 I feel that the photo is still of "Pine Hill", Stirling (although sometimes refered to as Aldgate).'
