Summary

Wedding photograph of John McGrath and Margaret Conway, Irish immigrants who married in St Xavier's Cathedral, Adelaide on 9 August 1897. The hand-tinted photograph is a curiosity in that the faces of John and Margaret have been superimposed on the bodies of another couple - apparently done because they could not afford the wedding clothes. They lived in Saltram Place off Sturt Street.
