Summary

View of St Paul's Cathedral, London. Sir Christopher Wren, Architect of St. Paul's and many other churches/cathedrals around London is buried inside the Church. One hundred and thirty three wounded soldiers in WW1 (including Australians, British, Candians, South Africans, Bedforsdhire Regiment)embroidered a tapestry frontal for the alter as part of their repatriation. The Cathedral was severely damaged when it was bombed by the Germans in WW11 and the tapestry was put in a box for safe keeping for 70 years. It has been restored for the Commemoration of the beginning of WW1 and will be on display for four years from August 2014 [information provided by a researcher].
