Historical information

In 1991 Cedar Prest was commissioned to create a new set of clerestory windows for St Peter's Cathedral, replacing the earlier plain glass windows which had become unsafe. The windows of the the choir reflect the colours of the nineteenth century windows in the adjacent Lady Chapel. The southern windows represent the choristers in traditional robes, while the northern windows contain tuxedoed and t-shirted musicians playing a variety of instruments, including a bass drum with the symbols of the Cathedral's patron saint, St Peter (the crossed keys of the Kingdom) emblazoned on it. Above both sets of figures are angels playing the instruments mentioned in Psalm 150. The figures were drawn and painted by Lance Feeney.
