Historical information

Hilda Lutzow married the teacher at Hermannsburg Mission, H.A. 'Dolph' Heinrich in 1924. The Heinrichs worked tirelessly, teaching the Arrente children at Hermannsburg and translating text books and religious publications. They were also involved in the search for Lasseter in 1930. In 1932 they left Hermannsburg and settled at Gawler. From 1954 the couple ran the Gawler Institute Library with Hilda continuing as Institute librarian until 1988, aged 88. In 1986 the Gawler Institute commissioned a portrait of Mrs Heinrich by the artist John Dowie (Adevertiser 14/7/1986). She died at Gawler in 1990. (Information supplied by Anthony Laube).
