Historical information

Percival Brookfield was born at Wavertree, Lancashire and reared at Liverpool. He went to sea at the age of 13, later worked in the Victorian mining industry before arriving in Broken Hill around 1914. In 1916 he was elected as the member for Sturt to the NSW Legislative Assembly. In 1921, he was shot by a Russian named Koorman Tomayoff at the Riverton Railway Station during a refreshment stop, subsequently dying in Adelaide.
