Historical information

The shop was owned by Baden and Gweneth Steward, who lived in the residence behind the shop. The business was taken over by Baden Steward's son Murray 'when his Dad retired to play bowls', and eventually inherited when Baden died in 1958. Murray Baden decided to leave the drapery business when Myer started up at Welland. He rented the shop to a tenant in 1961 for only a few years, after which it ceased to be a drapery shop. It was leased to many tenants with different businesses until it was sold in the 1990s. (Information supplied by Karyn Gilbert).
