Historical information

Point McLeay Reserve was founded in 1858 by George Taplin for the Aboriginal Friends Association, which operated the Reserve until 1916. In that year the South Australian Aboriginal Affairs Board took over the running the mission and operated it as a pastoral station. In 1982 the name of the locality changed to Raukkan.
