Summary

William Henry Tietkens, explorer and naturalist was born in England and emigrated to Australia in 1859. He was second in command on Ernest Giles expeditions to Central Australia where he collected new plant species and rock samples. He was a miner, station hand and was described as a 'wanderer by accident'.
