General notes

The photograph was taken by the children's mother in the backyard of their 19 Turnbull Road, Enfield, Housing Trust home, using a box Brownie camera. The area was still being developed, with no footpaths, roads still under construction and no transport into the city except a one mile bus trip to the Tram Teminus (now Northpark Shopping Centre complex).
