Plaque at Innamincka
One of two plaques at Innamincka - 'Captain Charles Sturt discovered Cooper Creek about fifteen miles west of this place on 13 October 1845. In his attempt to reach the centre of Australia his work prompted further exploration resulting in the pastoral occupation of this locality and western Queensland. Erected 1944.'

The second of two plaques at Innamincka - 'Burke, Wills, Gray and King, the first to cross the continent from south to north passed here 17 December 1890. The sole survivor, King, was cared for by the natives and was rescued by Howitt 15 september 1861. Erected 1944'.
