Summary

Kermode Street, north side, October 2nd 1936, right side of house is 19 yards west of King William Road and frontage is 15.5 yards. For the building erected on this site in 1939 see B 9537. The residence in the photograph belonged to Dr Charles Davies and was erected in 1841. The roof and verandah were added later. Dr Charles Davies emigrated to South Australia in 1848. He built up a large medical practice. Later he became a member of the first fully elected Legislative Council in 1857. He served for 8 years and was also appointed to various Boards. After retirement he bought Mattawarangala sheep station but later moved to Beaumont.
