General notes

Emily Emma PADMAN was born 9/6/1853 at North Adelaide to Thomas PADMAN and Mary Ann (nee WATERHOUSE). She died 12/8/1944 in Brighton, Victoria. She married Samuel CHURCHWARD, born in Torquay, UK 7/10/1848, on 21/12/1876 at Kent Town Methodist Church. He died 24/5/1890 in Adelaide. He was Second Master at Prince Alfred College. They had 8 children. Her book "In Paths Directed" gives a more full account of her life. Emily's reminisciences and writings were edited by Stella Mary Macdonald, her Granddaughter, and published in 1984. [from information provided].
