Summary

Strangways Terrace: the residence of Mrs David Randall taken from Strangeways Terrace, showing the western and southern aspects of the house. The southern front is 81 yards north of Montefiore Hill. A lady dressed in black is sitting on a rocking chair near the front door (possibly Mrs Eliza Randall, the widow of David Randall) David and his wife Eliza arrived in South Australian onboard the 'Templar' in 1845, with their two children, groom, gardener and 2 maids. A single storey stone house (Glen Para) was built for them in 1851 and in 1855 they established a dairy and cattle farm and a vineyard on the property near Mount Crawford. David Randall died in 1874.
