Summary

Portrait of Mrs. Eliza D. Randall, wife of David Randall of "Glen Para" or "Glenparra", near Mt. Crawford. The name for the property was suggested by George Fife Angas who advised the Randall family on immigrating to South Australia. David and Eliza arrived in South Australian onboard the 'Templar' in 1845, with their two children, groom, gardener and 2 maids. A single storey stone house was built for them in 1851 and in 1855 they established a dairy and cattle farm and a vineyard on the property near Mount Crawford. Eliza Randall was author of 'Incidents in Colonial Life in Prose and Poetry', Adelaide, 1873.
