Summary

[General description] Statue of Captain Matthew Flinders standing on a granite plinth, dressed in his naval uniform and carrying a telescope and sextant. The statue was designed by English sculptor Frederick Brook Hitch. Trees in North Terrace Gardens provide a backdrop. [On back of photograph] 'Statue of Captain Mathew Flinders / Erected in 1934 / Photograph taken in 1934 / Site: On the north side of North terrace, opposite Stephen's Place'.
