General notes

The date given to this image had been 1945. On comparison with her photograph on a poster issued for the "first public appearance of the 10 year old Musical Genius Allison Nelson the Amazing Child Pianist" at the Adelaide Town Hall on Saturday 2 April 1938, it is likely that this image was taken at that concert in 1938. (See poster ZPS 7708 in the Poster Collection.) An Allison May Nelson was born on 22 April 1928 at Alberton. According to Wikipedia entry for Nelson and Neal (Allison Nelson and husband Harry Neal) she enjoyed a long musical career as soloist and duo pianist with her husband in America from the mid-1950s, where she was professor of piano at the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM).
