General notes

original faded and torn.

Historical information

Thomas Paltridge ran his own tannery in Cameron Road, Mount Barker; the buildings were destroyed by fire in 1907, they were rebuilt and extended, only to be burnt down again. The premises that replaced them were more extensive and modern, and as the Johnson Leather Company Ltd it continued to operate until June 1982 when it closed.
