Summary

North Terrace looking east from King William Street taken about 1881. The Adelaide Club can be seen on the extreme right and is the tallest building along this part of North Terrace. Work started on this building in 1863 and was completed in 1864. A well was built into the basement. The spire of Chalmers Free Church (later Scots Church) can be seen in the distance. Elegant houses with small front gardens stand along the Terrace. Hitching posts line the southern side of North Terrace and the road itself looks very muddy. The paling fence in front of Government House is visible across the road to the North.
