Historical information

A. W. Dobbie was an amateur astronomer and telescope maker who made three Newtonian reflector telescopes: a 6 and a half inch reflector with a 5 foot focal length, completed in 1874; a 12 and a quarter inch reflector with a 10 foot focal length, completed in 1885; an 18 inch (46 cm) reflector with a 13 foot focal length, completed in 1904.
