Summary

NOARLUNGA: Noarlunga Hotel; the licensee, Joachim Martin Heinrich Hintz with his wife Marie Luise and their children stand with others outside. Joachim Heinrich Martin Hintz, also Hinze, arrived in South Australia (Port Adelaide) in 1846 on a boat called 'Patel' with 3 other family members. He settled in the Barossa Valley and worked as a wheelwright and blacksmith. (1881 South Australian Directory: Blacksmith Tanunda). He also had the Barossa Inn, Lyndoch. (SA Register: 13 Sept 1882; Licensing branch renewals etc H Hinze to H Hinze Barossa Inn, Lyndoch Valley, SA Advertiser 12 September 1883 licence for Barossa Inn transferred to H Dank from H Hinze SA Register 9 Sept 1885 licence of Noarlunga hotel from H Hinze to H Hinze).
