Summary

[General description] Head and shoulders portrait of George Milner Stephen in seven eighths view. He has short curly hair and a neat trimmed beard. He served as Colonial Secretary in South from October 1838- July 1839. He was an able administrator and lawyer who at one time became embroiled in controversy in land speculation. Later in his life he became known as a faith healer. [On back of photograph] 'Presented by Under Secretary'.
