Summary

GENERAL: Bamboo mats called a 'Matting Road', built by the locals at Sourabaya, Netherland East Indies, 8th December 1919. They were laid down to prevent Ross and Keith Smith's aircraft from sinking into the airstrip which had been reclaimed from the sea.
