Summary

Sketch of the house of Captain William Elder, at Kensington. Captain William Elders (1813-1882), sea captain, joined the Elders family business in 1844 when he returned to Australia with his wife to settle. The house is single storey with a verandah encircling a bay window. The artist, Alexander Charles Kelly (1811-1877) was a newly arrived Scottish medical practitioner and winegrower.
