From: Interview programme "Six women remember growing up in the early 1900s".

This image is of Mary Alethea Snelling, eldest daughter of William Morris Snelling and Mary Eleanor Wright. Mary was born in Calcutta India 1883. Her father had been a teacher at the Free School in Calcutta, and brought his family to South Australia some time between 1884 and 1891 when his second daughter Faith Christian was born in 1891 in Kent Town. He was later headmaster of the Happy Valley school where three of his four daughters also taught. [from information provided].
