Summary

Detailed illustration of a vessel named the 'Lurline', pictured at full sail. Note on back of painting reads 'Notes from Mr A.T. Saunders:- Lurline, ketch, built of wood in Tasmania in 1873. 59 tons. 79 feet long. 18' 5" broad. 7' 1" deep. Registered in Adelaide in 1879 (office no. 57,541). Original Adelaide owners: G.R. Selth, Charles Heath & others. Afterwards owned by A.C. Evans, Port Adelaide. Possibly the same vessel as the Lurline (described as a schooner) which was wrecked at Beachport, Oct. 29, 1898. Work is inscribed by the artist 'Bourne '85'.
