Historical information

This photo may be taken in 1922 (the block was allotted in 1921) showing Elsie and her fourth child of eight, Phil Gregory Clarke. The house, taken from 'Cordon's', had been the home of a station overseer and was superior to accommodation at the station, having three bedrooms, a dining room with a fireplace, a porch, and a lean-to, galvanised iron kitchen with a wood stove and chimney. It was transported to the site on horse-drawn wagons. The 'Family History of the Clarkes of Melrose, South Australia' by R.H. Clarke (Reg) provides further information.
