Summary

[General description] This rural scene shows the City Bridge (on King William Street) over the Torrens with the parklands in the distance. This iron bridge was imported from England and extended King William Road into North Adelaide. In 1877 it was widened, then converted to a two lane bridge in 1884. It was replaced in 1931. [On back of photograph] 'City Bridge / (erected in 1856)'.
