Summary

{General description] Head and shoulders portrait of the subject in three quarter view, wearing a full, neatly trimmed beard. He was a successful businessman, parliamentarian and philanthropist, knighted (KCMG) in 1888. After his death his house, the 'Acacias' on the corner of Portrush and Kensington Roads Marryattville, became Loreto Convent, later Loreto College. [On front of photograph] 'Sir Edwin Thomas Smith, M.L.C.'
