Summary

Corner of Gouger Street and Victoria Square, 1929 showing the Moores Building. Charles Moore and Co. was a company based in Adelaide which owned a number of department stores in three States of Australia. It was founded by Charles Moore (ca.1858 - 30 September 1916), a businessman who was born in Ireland. Its best-known assets were the magnificent department store known to two generations of Adelaideans as "Moore's on the Square".
