Summary

Locomotive no. 1 of the Adelaide, Glenelg and Suburban Railway Company, soon after the line from King William Street to Glenelg was opened in August 1873. Behind the locomotive are two 4-wheeled passenger carriages. Photographed at the company's depot in the Park Lands on the corner of South Terrace and Peacock Road; the building is most likely a locomotive running shed. The locomotive was built by Robert Stephenson and Company [Information provided by a researcher].
