Summary

The wedding of Mavis Connell (second from right), daughter of the owners of Mount Breckan, William Frederick ('Fred') and Augusta Elizabeth Adelaide Connell nee Techritz, and Hayward Milton (right), son of William Compton Milton and Jane Ann nee Mitchell, on the steps of 'Mount Breckan'. Hayward was a surveyor, Mavis was the daughter of who can be seen standing in the centre back. Mr Connell has a white moustache.

Historical information

The Connells bought Mount Breckan in 1911 after it had been burnt out in a fire in 1909. They had it rebuilt and opened as a high quality guest house at Easter 1914. They employed some of the former staff of Governor Sir Day Bosanquet, including his cook. Mavis Connell had been receptionist/secretary at the guest house when the original estate was being partially subdivided into building blocks and her father employed a young surveyor named Hayward Milton.
