Summary

Gouger Street, south side, January 7th 1929, right side of building is 3.5 yards east of Whitecomb Street and frontage is 6.5 yards. According to a researcher, this two storey premises of K. R. Ackarie was one of the very first businesses they operated in Adelaide. While the business was taking place downstairs, their family of five children lived in the residence upstairs. Kushaya Ackarie and Eugenie built the second story to this premise. As a Tailor to selling other merchandise, Kushaya Ackarie and his wife Eugenie Ackarie (nee Fayad) began what would be five decades of a family clothing businss. Small cottage just visible on right of shops was demolished in 1950 and Capital Used Car premises erected 1950/1951. For view of cottage formerly on the side see B4119.
