Summary

[General description] Group of Kingston villagers with members of Parliamentary Select Committee, Lake Bonney, 18 October 1895. The Committee was visiting to enquire into the working of the Village Settlements. Members were J. Moule (chairman), P.P. Gillen (Commissioner of Crown Lands), E.L. Batchelor, W.J. Blacker, T. Burgoyne, J. McLachlan and T. Price. The group stands (and sits) under some straggly gum trees on the water's edge. The two women present display the 'wasp waist' fashionable at the time. [On back of photograph] 'Members of the Lake Bonney Village settlement / River Murray / In the eighteen nineties'.
