General notes

Note inside each album says, in part, 'At the suggestion of Sir Thomas Elder, authority was given by the SA Branch of the Royal Geographical Society of Australasia, for the presentation of a set of the photographs to each member of the Expedition (vide minutes of the Society, May 2, 1892, fol.194). There is evidence in subsequent minutes that a few sets were also distributed to kindred institutions.' Images 95-96 (Aboriginal girl with six fingers and six toes, Fraser Range) are restricted from viewing.
