Historical information

P. H. Mitchell was first commissioned as Lieutenant with the Adelaide rifles 12/6/1900; from 1/7/1903 he served with the 10th Australian Infantry Regiment becoming a Captain 1/2/1904, he was on the unattached list in South Australia and Tasmania during 1906. He continued as a Captain with the 93rd Infantry Regiment (Tas.), 1913-1915 and appointed to Staff Service as an Acting Militia Adjutant during 1915. He retired 1/12/1922 with the rank of Captain, unattached list, and granted the honorary rank of Major with the 6th Military District; he was awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration in 1920.
