Summary

[General description] The ivy-clad tower and part of the roof of 'Carclew' can be seen beyond garden plants and the stone wall on which is mounted a bronze plaque. The plaque commemorates the departure of John McDouall Stuart's expedition acoss Australia which left from this spot on the 25th October, 1861, having lunched in the house which previously stood on this site. The wall was extant at that time. [On back of photograph] 'Acre 749 / Memorial plate, "Carclew", North Adelaide / the residence of Sir Langdon Bonython'.
