Summary

[General description] This single storey red brick building is in the bungalow style popular in the Inter-war period, the corrugated iron roof featuring large Kentish gables. Above the main door are the words: 'This hall was erected by the residents of McLaren Flat to perpetuate the memory of those who fought in the Great War'. It was opened by the Hon. G.R. Laffer on Saturday December 9 1922. (See B 1179)Although the description on the back of the photograph has it being built in 1928 this is incorrect. [On back of photograph] 'Reproduced in the 'Chronicle', May 26, 1928 / Soldiers' Memorial Hall, McLaren Flat / Erected 1928 / Photographed May 1928'.
