Historical information

Service number 108, Lance Corporal Leonard Arthur Johnson was born at Adelaide on 17 September 1891. He enlisted on 8 February 1915. A member of the 27th Battalion he was wounded in action in France on 29 June 1916 when taking part in a raid on enemy trenches. Awarded the Military Medal for bravery in the field in May 1917 he was killed in action at the Battle of Menin Road, Belgium, on 20 September 1917.
