Historical information

No. 2473 Private John Joseph McDonald was born at Murray Bridge, South Australia on 11 February 1900. He enlisted at Adelaide on 17 January 1916 using his older brother's name (James Corbet/Colbert McDonald) and details. He served in Egypt with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment, and was repatriated to Australia in late 1916. John Joseph also enlisted again (under his own name) after he became of age in October 1918, but was demobbbed due to end of hostilities. John (Jack) was last heard of walking to Victoria (Sunraysia) during the Depression and contact was lost.
