Summary

No.1967 Private Josiah George Polkinghorne, born Thackeringa, N.S.W. Enlisted 27th Infantry Battalion at Keswick, South Australia, 12 April 1915. Served Mudros and France. Awarded Military Medal for bravery in the field at Messines on 8 June 1917. Appointed 2nd Lieutenant 4 November 1918. Returned to Australia 1919.
