Historical information

Stanley Roy Kirkbright was born in Adelaide on 24 December 1892. He enlisted on 8 February 1916 and served in France with the 27th Infantry Battalion, being detached from duty to play with the Battalion Band in Rouen in 1918 and again to play with the 7th Brigade Band in 1919. He returned to Australia in 1919 and became a Restaurant owner on Harrow Road, Malvern, before becoming licensee of the Somerset Hotel, Adelaide, from January 1941 to April 1959. He died at Streaky Bay, South Australia, in 1981.
