Summary

[General description] Moodily lit portrait of Sir Douglas Mawson showing head and upper body in three quarter view, the subject looking at the camera. He is clean-shaven and wears a matching jacket and waistcoat, a wing collar and a tie. This portrait was probably taken soon after he returned from the successful Australasian Antarctic Expedition of 1911-14. He was knighted in 1914. [On back of photograph] 'Sir Douglas Mawson / 1914'.
