Summary

Reinhardskirche, built for the Lutheran minority and inaugurated on the 9th September, 1731. It features a tall tower which was damaged in World War Two but was restored in 1962-65. Steinau, Hesse, Germany, is the birthplace of Johann Menge, 1788 -1852 : Geologist and linguist and author of "Mineral Kingdom of South Australia" [On back of photograph] 'Steinau a.d.Kinzig / Germany / Reinhardskirche (birthplace of Johann Menge 1788-1852.)'.
