Historical information

Robert Watson Laughton, second son of George Laughton and Elizabeth Pink of Gilberton, born in 1868. The Laughton family were well-known and highly regarded stock and station agents in Adelaide over three generations. In 1861 Edward Laughton introduced cattle sales by auction to South Australia. Robert Laughton took over his father's stock and station agent business in Currie Street, Adelaide after his father's death. He took part in many philanthropic works and was connected with the O.B.I. (Our Boys Institute). He married Sarah Reid in 1902 and they had five children. He died on 25 September, 1913, aged 43 years.
