Summary

[General description] This sketch shows a ship in full sail under a cloudy sky, with a windmill dotted shoreline in the background. The ship is towing a smaller boat. In the foreground a barrel is floating, handle upwards. The "Lady Nelson" made a very important contribution to the Australian colonies, particularly in Tasmania and the eastern seaboard. She was also associated with the Flinders expedition. [On back of photograph] 'H.M. brig "Lady Nelson", 1801'.
