General notes

A transfer document number T34560 was lodged at the Land Titles Office Adelaide on 28/4/1871 for the vacant land on which the first church in Freeling was built. The foundation stone of the Methodist church was laid in 1871 and was at that time part of the Templers Methodist Circuit. The Lutheran Church also used the building until 1883. According to the History of St Peter's Church Freeling in 1901 the various Methodist churches united and the Lutheran Church experienced growth. There was an agreement between the two churches to exchange buildings, the Lutherans paid $200 for the larger building and the Methodists moved into the smaller Lutheran church. In 1967 the Lutheran congregation no longer required this building and offered it back to the Methodists who paid $1,200 for it in 1970; the name St Peter's was agreed by the Methodist conference in that year.
