Summary

[General description] The unsealed road in front of the imposing Port Adelaide Railway Station building is muddy. Dray horses seem oblivious to a locomotive steaming along the tracks in the middle of the road. [On back of photograph] 'Port Adelaide Railway Station / Probably in the eighteen nineties'. A researcher notes that this view is not 1890s and can be no earlier than 1905. The 1905-06 Port Adelaide Mayor's Report, p8, records that the Formby Fountain was shifted from elsewhere in the Port to in front of Railway Station in 1905-06.
